To finance our charitable projects, Galway Lions Club conducts a number of Fund-Raising events the most significant of these is: The Galway Lions Club Radio Auction in association with Galway Bay FM (GBFM).

Every year, for over 30 years, on a Friday in early December, GBFM kindly offer their services, free of charge, to host a live auction on Galway Talks with Keith Finnegan. Between 9.00am to 12.00 a.m. Keith offers over 250 auction items for sale. These items are kindly donated by businesses in Galway include vouchers for Dunnes Stores, Cinema tickets, Electrical Goods, pieces of Art, Holidays, Home Heating Oil, Motoring, Clothing, Carpets, Furniture, Golf Green Fees, Restaurants and many more items.

The auction has evolved significantly since its inception and the last few years has seen the introduction of BiddingOwl.com which offers an effective, helpful and bidder friendly online auction site.

The bidding site usually commences on the Tuesday before the Radio show can be accessed from the Galway Lions club web site, where you cab access both a visual (where appropriate) and written description of the auction item and provides live feedback on the auction process.  Bidding can also be made by way of phone call with the phone number is advertised in advance of the Auction.  Payment is by way of Credit/Debit card or by Electric Fund Transfer and items are posted to successful bidders in the week following auction.   

Since inception the Auction has, through the generosity of the business and people of Galway raised in excess of €900,000.
